Why Localization?
—How & Why It All Began
“Joining a start-up still has a lot of benefits for employees who are looking to work with high performance teams with little structure. Your impact will likely be felt. Constant learning opportunities, responsibility and advancement are there for those who take it.” – Steve Blank, Harvard Business Review
Localization is less about language and technology and more about human capital development and empowerment. The conformist technique of duplicating frameworks, content, implementation models and approaches will almost never work in the complex and vibrant South African economy. With the startling statistic of 9 million unemployed South African citizens, almost everyone is responding to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s imperative inaugural call-to-action to positively transform the economy #ThumaMina (#SendMe)
GrowthWheel SA is actively fulfilling its role in the transformation of the economy through localization, i.e. through customizing its services and impact business units to satiate what is distinct to the South African environment. This includes the localization of the ‘Demographics’ page on our GrowthWheel Online (GO) platform (a platform that allows one to collaborate with clients in the cloud, share tools and produce reports that track client progress). It excludes fields suited for the other GrowthWheel markets and includes those relevant to the South African ecosystem (e.g. BEE level; Skills Development Levy, etc.)
GrowthWheel SA is currently working on localizing 4 core areas within the next 2 quarters using our very own 30-60-90 Day Plan (a tool used to list, prioritize and keep track of all actions and decisions you and your client have agreed to work on).
The 4-core areas include:
Advisor Advanced Support and Videos
Offline Software Simulator
Slide Localization
Entrepreneurs Supported outside of Advisors
Localization is essential to instilling GrowthWheel SA’s effective contribution to the South African ecosystem.
